PostSubject: Gaining Attention    Thu May 24, 2012 12:31 pm

Since the red haired ninja had been recruited by the revolutionary efforts, she had not been able to really contribute anything. Sure, she was shown a bit of preference at times and given access to secret information, but she had not yet obtained any on her own. It had reached her ears that there would be a meeting of the world council that night to discuss sensitive political issues. Naturally, Neena the ninja, curious as she was, planned to listen in on this highly classified meeting.

The information she would obtain there would be for the ears of Dragon only, she would be going completely over her chapter’s leader’s head for this one. Yeah, she was going to step on some toes, but she didn’t care. Her presence in the group was voluntary and she would not be bullied into doing what she didn’t want to do.

As she waited for the appointed time, the young woman lounged about at the local hangout for the members of the revolution. It was an unoccupied house most people considered haunted. The locals wouldn’t go near it and visitors never paid the ancient structure any attention. This combined with underground tunnels and hidden passageways made this a perfect place.

Here, Neena could relax. This was certainly a rare luxury for the rogue ninja. Her clan, and other clans, were actively seeking her out. If they found her she would either be killed or taken back to the Blood Clan’s nearest base. Either way, she would experience unimaginable pain. Her greatest fear was being caught by a high ranking ninja. Chances are, she would never be able to take them out and ultimately meet her end.

The more she thought about it, the more thankful she was to be part of the resistance. The ninja clans couldn’t touch her as long as she continued working for these people. However, it was only a matter of time before they began taking orders from the government to target anyone associated with the revolution. It infuriated Neena to know that the proud ninja of the Blood Clan would stoop so low as to become a government lap dog. This was why she defected. She refused to have her honor tainted by taking orders from someone so unfit to give them. Every ninja knew the government was corrupt, even the young leader of the clan who recently took over at his grandfather’s passing.

That was another problem, they allowed someone as young as HIM to lead. Whatever happened to honoring those elders who spent their lives becoming great ninja and teaching young people how to follow the path? People said that times were changing, but at least to Neena, it wasn’t for the better.

The more she stewed on the past and the consequences it would bring, the more determined she became to obtain the information she so greatly wanted. The red haired girl wanted to show her new leader how useful she could be. As a ninja, the best way was to obtain information that is both classified and desirable.

Hours passed as the young woman became more and more ready for the mission ahead of her. For the most part, people left her alone, taking her recent serious turn to mean that she was about to do something dangerous. Many of her fellow revolutionaries whispered behind her back, trying to guess what she was up to. Most of them assumed it was an assassination. However, that was far from the truth.

Neena imagined Dragon was sitting at a table about now, pouring over maps and messages, trying to decide how to obtain more secret government information that would help them all not only avoid danger but also get the message out to the people that they were living under a corrupt regime that deserved nothing better than to fall. Dragon. He was such a mythical person, all secretive and stern. It would be fun to see him break that, just once.

The lavender eyed lady glanced at the time. It was indeed, the moment when she should begin her quest. Silently, she left the base and began her long walk to the government building the meeting would be held in. Neena tried her best to fit in, despite wearing all black. No one seemed to pay any attention to her as she strolled past the entrance to the place and around the corner.

Choosing the lowest point of the wall, she scaled it with a bit of difficulty. It wasn’t easy to get up stone walls with no groves to use as hand holds, and most of the lower ranked ninja would slide as she had done. Neena entertained the thought she was out of practice before jumping down into the courtyard and sneaking close to the building. At least the building had spaces to use as handholds, making it a quick climb to the second story. People talking could be heard coming from a nearby window, and the young ninja crept closer until she could easily hear the voices coming from inside.

“No, absolutely not. We will not be publicly admitting that there is a revolution brewing.”

“But if we don’t do something, if we allow these people to continue to walk free…”

“We won’t. We will stick pirate charges on the lot of them, even if we have to make something up.”

“I don’t like lying to the people. They put their trust in us to be truthful with them about what is going on in the country.”

“Get used to it, because this is how the world works.”

A smirk played at the woman’s mouth as she listened to the discontent in the second man’s voice. This was definitely something that could be used later. Quietly, she brought out a tape recorder to record the rest of the conversation.

“Well, maybe I want to change the world for the better and actually help the people.”

“That’s just silly talk, especially coming from a noble born gentleman such as yourself.”

That was all she needed, a sample of their voices. Neena waited until the meeting was over before making her way back to base as quickly as she could. Approaching the nearest guard, she grinned.

“Is Dragon still here? I got some information he’s going to love.”

Shrugging, he pointed her to the back room. There, she faced the double doors. This was it, she finally had a reason to talk to one of the most powerful men in the world. Taking a deep breath, she pushed open the doors and strolled in.
